The New York Earth Room is a space dedicated to the interior sculpture crafted by Walter de Maria. The sculpture is housed in a loft at 141 Wooster Street and has been there since the 1970s. The sculpture is made up of 3,600 square feet of Earth on the floor that sits 22 inches deep. It was initially meant to serve as a three-month temporary exhibit but became a permanent installation.
