Children's Museum of the Arts
The Children's Museum of the Arts in NYC is designed to teach children ages 0-15 how to make art, ranging from drawings to sound art to textiles to animation to sculptures. The CMA works closely with children in foster care, children with learning disabilities, and the children of homeless families to promote art for all. The museum has a permanent collection of more than 2,000 pieces of art made by children from 50 different countries, dating back to the 1930s.
Since 1988, the Children’s Museum of the Arts has changed how people value our youngest artists and their aesthetic contributions to the world.
Our concept of a museum has been changing, too. Born as an artist’s Soho studio project, the Children’s Museum of the Arts grew into a neighborhood stalwart for local families while building a collection of works by children from over 50 countries dating back nearly a century.
