Castle Williams is a 40-foot tall fortification constructed of red sandstone on Governors Island in NYC. The Castle was built in the early 1800s to defend the city from any potential incoming attack by sea. Today, it is one of the key landmarks that can be seen in New York Harbor and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Here are some of the "must see" items at Castle Williams.
